Blogging a Blog

Hi, and if you are reading these words, I'm sending a resounding 'Thank you!"

So, I've decided to start a photography blog full of tips and tricks and stories behind shots that are particularly special to me. I'll be honest; this is weird for me! I have thought about blogging for a few years now, and I've reached a point where I'm a little annoyed with myself because I have been putting it off for so long. I keep thinking "I don't know where to begin! I'll come up with some more ideas and maybe start it next month." -__-  Well, I've been thinking that for too long, and I'm just going to start right now!

I have recently (nearly three months ago) moved to Bradenton, Florida, and this shot below was taken during a scheduled burn at Myakka State Park. I was driving around some back roads and stumbled across the scene...okay, I saw the clouds of smoke from miles away and made my way towards them! I have never seen anything quite like this before; it was pretty neat. I love the way the light is diffused through the smoke, creating an array of tones both cool and warm.

I didn't have my tripod with me and I'm still working on my confidence when it comes to stopping along the side of the road to take photos, so this shot was definitely rushed a little. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with it, I think. Mostly because I actually got out of my car to take it. Baby steps, that’s what it’s all about.

Stay weird, friends. ✌🏼
